Today’s students require policies that support their needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
How we can accomplish this:
- Ensure the basic security of today’s students basic needs, health, and wellness
- Expand supports for student parents and caretakers.
- Ensure undocumented students who immigrated as children can access and afford postsecondary education.
- Provide robust supports and protections for military-connected students.
- Incentivize evidence driven strategies to increase completion for today’s students.

Today’s students require a student aid system that is accessible, transparent, and adjusted for the realities they face.
How we can accomplish this:
- Modernize the Pell Grant to better serve today’s students.
- Update the federal student aid process to reflect the realities of today’s students.
- Improve student loan borrowing and repayment to increase financial success.
- Update financial aid rules to better serve today’s students.
- Make campus-based aid work better for today’s students.
- Improve postsecondary accountability to protect students’ financial security.

Today’s students require flexible learning opportunities and connected pathways to and through education and employment.
How we can accomplish this:
- Improve postsecondary data systems and increase data transparency.
- Change financial aid rules to allow for multiple pathways to and through postsecondary education.
- Support educational institutions, employers, students, and other stakeholders working together to increase student access to and success in high-quality education and training.
