About the DC Student Summit

The three-day DC Student Summit in our nation’s capital will equip students with the skills necessary to elevate their stories and lived experiences directly to federal policymakers. Led by the Today’s Students Coalition and LeadMN, students will have the opportunity to learn how to effectively share their stories with policymakers, learn about current hot topics in DC surrounding higher education, racial equity, and efforts to address students’ basic needs as well as a day on the Hill meeting with Congressional offices. This event often sells out so make sure to register soon.

Attendees will learn how to effectively participate in civic engagement.

Students will have the chance to learn about policy priorities in the new Congress and long-term solutions for higher ed’s most pressing issues.

Prepare for meetings with members of Congress and their staff by participating in the first in a series of legislative training games.

Teams will review the federal legislative agenda and craft their stories for effective civic engagement.

Our stories are our most powerful tools, with the power to spark massive innovation. During the personal story roundtable, attendees will learn how to deliver their stories to create positive change in their communities.

Hear directly from Hill staffers and policy experts on how to share experiences with policymakers to impact change.

With these new skills in hand, attendees will take to the Hill to meet directly with members of Congress and their staff about the importance of higher education.

Cap off your DC Student Summit experience with a reception on Capitol Hill! Students will have an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments over the past few days and chances to network with both policy experts and Hill staffers.
